Nearly one hundred years ago, this statement would be correct. There was, in fact, a true bias by the medical community against the chiropractic profession. There was even a major lawsuit in the 1980’s where the Illinois Supreme Court found that the American Medical Association was guilty of conspiracy and slander against chiropractic.
Since that ruling, the bias embedded in the medical community was exposed and removed from curriculum. Medical doctors began to learn more about chiropractic and regard it as just medical specialty that was both the appropriate and preferred type of care for certain conditions. Today, hospitals across the country have chiropractors on staff and chiropractic care is recognized by all health insurance companies.
